Mika learned to knit during the 2020 lockdown from her grandmother over FaceTime — five years later she runs a two-person studio above a laundromat in Bushwick. Her work pulls from bootleg Yankees caps, corner-store neon, and the chaotic color of weekend farmers markets. Every Alvarez sock starts as a hand-sketched palette swatch before it ever touches a loom.

Got stopped three times at brunch.
Strangers asked where I got them. Wore them to a wedding. Wore them to a funeral (the deceased would have approved). Buying four more pairs.

Worth the shipping from the US.
The gradient is even better in person. My only complaint is that I want the pattern on a t-shirt too.

Sized down and they fit perfect. Material is incredible — softer than my $40 Japanese socks.
